The heart of this episode is a fun interview with Star Wars veteran voice actress Cat Taber. Learn about her experience on The Force Awakens, and even though her name is "Cat", she may just love dogs.

It's summer and the Force has awakened at Disney World. The new Star Wars fireworks may not begin until June 17th, but you will find them on this month's episode of Fangirls Going Rogue.

The discussion kicks off with Teresa Delgado asking Tricia Barr and Sarah Woloski their thoughts on the Rogue One re-shoots. Luckily we'll know more about the movie come July when Celebration Europe happens. Tricia offers more news on her appearances at the convention, including a panel Friday on the STEM Heroes and Heroines of Star Wars!

There was a lot of love Chewbacca Mom Candace Payne and the new Star Wars Show at starwars.com. Not only did J.J. Abrams blow Chewbacca Mom's mind by a personal visit, he spoke to young female filmmakers this month. Dave Filoni told guests at the National Conference on Woman and IT about how he has worked to include the presence of women in Star Wars. While things are looking up for women in storytelling, Geena Davis reminds everyone that the numbers still haven't improved since 1946 and that we need to keep speaking up about diversity.

Listeners wanted to know our hopes and dreams for Star Wars Rebels Season 3. Tune in to find out what we think!

The character discussion asks questions about the Inquisitors.

Fangirls Going Rogue is now an award-winning podcast thanks to our merry band of listeners! We are so excited to be a fan-favorite podcasting ensemble since teamwork has always been part of our message. Come join the celebration in our latest episode.

So much has happened since Episode 31. The Rogue One trailer released, Disney XD previewed Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, and Sarah Woloski earned the Kessel Run medal for conquering the Disneyland and Disney World runDisney events. Teresa Delgado helped break down the news, and Tricia Barr shared insights into her first 5K and reading Star Wars: Bloodline. Be sure to tune into Skywalking Through Neverland Episode 118 to hear more about the listener meet-up.

MortisSurface

After a fun and rousing discussion on Twitter about The Clone Wars Mortis arc, Fangirls Going Rogue takes a deep dive into storytelling themes and symbolism. Inspired by last month's podcast discussion on the Star Wars Rebel finale, Tricia Barr leads an exploration of duality in Star Wars, from good versus evil to selflessness versus selfishness. Can a selfish choice be a good choice? Can a selfless choice be wrong? Is the balance of the Force simply the natural cycle of life and death, as revealed through the tree shedding its leaves and blooming anew on Mortis as the Daughter dies so Ahsoka can live? The tree inspires the Fangirls to ponder other stories where similar symbolism can be found, such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Pocahontas, and Snow White. Want to continue the conversation? You can, using the hashtag #MortisArcLive.

Lightsaber The Force Awakens

An article on Birth Movies Death about Captain America: Civil War storytellers taking inspiration from The Empire Strikes Back sparked opinions on what lessons Star Wars can take from the successful Marvel model. We want to hear your thoughts. Tell us on Twitter.

Teresa went outside the box again for another unique characters discussion. Is a lightsaber a character? We have thoughts, and we bet our listeners do too.

March is the month to celebrate women. The day after International Women’s Day actress Daisy Ridley had a powerful message for those critical of her. And that starts Episode 30 off with a bang!

A lot of new Star Wars-themed additions are arriving to Disney Parks: Teresa Delgado is ready for the new fireworks, Sarah Woloski teases her Kylo Ren meet-and-greet on Episode 109 of Skywalking Through Neverland, and Tricia Barr thinks Jedi apprentice Anna really let it go on Darth Vader at the new Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple.

For fans into expanding their Star Wars horizon, tons of new books and comics are out. The Poe Dameron comic will launch with events at local comic book stores. For the kids, Disney Publishing has a really cool Original Trilogy graphic novel and Rey’s Story, which we all enjoyed.

Lots of other cool things are happening, including Bad Robot’s new diversity hiring initiative announced by J.J. Abrams, who will be speaking at SXSW. Teresa Delgado will be at the convention for his panel and the debut of Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey, which comes out with the movie Blu-Ray next month. The Fangirls discuss what movie extras we’re most excited about.

It’s awards season. The Force Awakens might not have taken home an Oscar, but fans can help the movie to any number of MTV Movie Awards. Fangirls Going Rogue has also made it to the final round in several categories in the Star Wars Podcast Awards. Here’s a breakdown and how you can vote.

The ladies ponder what fairy tales parallel The Force Awakens. How is Kylo Ren like Cruella DeVille? The answer segues beautifully into our character discussion, featuring Rey’s nemesis. Does redemption work for the son who murdered his father? The difference in opinion creates an interesting discussion on Star Wars storytelling.

We celebrate awesome news on Episode 29 of Fangirls Going Rogue. Episode VIII has begun filming, we have a new website design thanks to FANgirl’s Geek Kay, and The Force Awakens crossed the $2 billion mark! And that is just a start.

Slowly #WheresRey is becoming #HeresRey as Rey-centric merchandise hits shelves. Keep tweeting your finds to @FGGoingRogue. We love to see them! How exciting is it to see Kathleen Kennedy dubbed “The Most Powerful Woman in Hollywood” by Vanity Fair? Tricia Barr, Teresa Delgado, and Sarah Woloski talk about this and more in our latest news segment that feels more like a pajama party.

Then it is on to a fun and insightful interview with author Jason Fry, who has written a ton of Star Wars books, including Rey’s Survival Guide and The Force Awakens: Incredible Cross-Sections. We ask about his Star Wars Rebels tie-in Servants of the Empire book series and his Jupiter Pirates series. Jason explains the challenges of age labels on books, and why adults will enjoy his books for kids. You can find more thoughts from Jason on his Tumblr page.

Honoring his work on the Star Wars galactic map, Jason joins this month’s character discussion, featuring our passengers of choice on a trip to a planet that inspires our adventures.

People are asking #WheresRey, and Fangirls Going Rogue is going to deliver with a Rey-packed episode!

Teresa Delgado helps keep score via Box Office Mojo’s latest movie statistics. Can The Force Awakens pass Avatar? The Fangirls have thoughts, but only time will tell. Listener questions helped spur on the #WheresRey discussion. Tricia Barr brings in Five-Thirty-Eight’s by the number analysis of movie related merchandise, and Sarah Woloski’s hunt for a Rey Build-a-Bear highlighted the disappointment fans feel. While Rey may be lacking in merchandise, Rey’s Theme can be found throughout The Force Awakens’ score. Sarah shares John Williams’ interview with the L.A. Times before the Fangirls explore the music. Shoutouts to @BajaChasr, @Geek_NW, and everyone who answered our social media topic on their favorite Star Wars Rebels character, spurred on by our amazing social media manager, Sandra Choute. Here excerpts from our live show on the podcast stage, with special guests Kay from FANgirl Blog, Aaron Goins from Star Wars Bookworms and Johnamarie Macias from The Wookiee Gunner. Everyone shares their #fangirlflail moment from the convention.

Beyond our podcast stage show, Saturday proved very special with the Star Wars Rebels Season 2 rollout. Teresa Delgado had a special flail moment when she interviewed Freddie Prinze, Jr., the voice of Kanan on Star Wars Rebels. Tricia Barr asked the last question at the Star Wars Rebels Press Conference. Sarah Woloski went on a special assignment to the Red Carpet and got to chat with Dave Filoni, Ashley Eckstein, Vanessa Marshall, Tiya Sircar and Taylor Gray.

Of course, The Force Awakens second teaser had to be discussed. The official verdict: it was amazing!

Also amazing at the convention, the merchandise, including Ewoks plushies coming from Disney Parks and fashion forward apparel from Her Universe and We Love Fine. The Fangirls were excited to see their Fangirls Going Rogue t-shirts around the con.

Since Sarah missed the character discussion to attend the Red Carpet, we gave her a chance to weigh in on the Ewoks and Teresa’s pitch for a dark Ewok book penned by James Luceno. Do it, Del Rey!

We would again like to take the opportunity to thank our listeners who supported the fankids at our show with generation donations of Leia, Hera and Sabine merchandise. If we missed you in the show, please drop us an email. We would like to thank each and everyone personally.

During Celebration, Fangirls Going Rogue will be appearing at the Podcaster Meet-up Thursday at 6:30 PM in the Hilton Lobby and also the Podcast Stage Saturday at 3:00 PM. Tricia Barr will also be hosting a fan panel on Sunday at 10:30 AM. More on that upcoming.

We are open to any and all opportunities to #fangirlflail at the convention. If you have ideas of where, when, or how to showcase the legions of fangirls and their supporters, drop us an email at fangirlsgoingrogue@gmail.com, tweet it, or share a thought on our Facebook page.

Amy Ratcliffe is back to help with working on our Fangirl Flair from last month’s starter ideas.

Did you notice all the Star Wars nods in the Oscars? Well, so did Teresa. She wanted to talk about that and the snub of superhero movies. Tricia and Sarah had opinions of their own.

You might have seen Jennifer Landa’s amazing Star Wars wedding photos on places like People.com. We just had to ask her about those and also her geek-themed YouTube channel. Say hi to Jen on Twitter@JenniferLanda.

Princess Leia took over the character discussion. As Sarah points out, she has three themes! Tune in to find out what else makes her special. As always, the discussion isn’t over when the show ends. Drop us a voicemail at 331-213-8657.
